Cookies
The short version
- Two cookies: one keeps you signed in, one protects our forms.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind from us, and nothing stored in your browser by us besides those two. (The payment provider's checkout has its own: see section 3.)
1. The cookies we use
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
__Host-tf_session | Keeps you signed in to your account as you move between pages. It holds a random identifier, not your details, and scripts on the page cannot read it. | 30 days after your last visit, or until you sign out |
__Host-tf_csrf | Protects forms such as sign-in and checkout from being submitted by other websites (cross-site request forgery). | Until you close your browser |
We do not use local storage, fingerprinting or any similar technology.
2. Why there is no cookie banner
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations allow cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you ask for, such as signing in, without asking for consent first. Both of our cookies are of that kind. If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
3. Payment pages
When you pay, you use a checkout run by our payment provider, Paddle, which loads on our checkout page. It may set or read its own cookies or similar storage, for example to prevent fraud and to complete the payment; see Paddle's cookie policy. Only the checkout page loads it, and no other page of this site does.
4. Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block ours, you will not be able to sign in or buy a subscription, but the rest of the site will work.
